Chronic pain is known as pain or discomfort present in a particular area that has lasted at the same or similar intensity for longer than 3 consecutive months.  Chronic pain can be caused from many sources, but most often it results from an injury or illness that was never properly diagnosed or treated at onset.  It can be exacerbated by many factors including diet, stress, sleeping habits, travel, hormonal imbalances, or re-injury.

” Carrie has worked closely with chronic pain patients and their physicians for many years.”

Chronic pain encompasses diagnoses such as Fibromyalgia,  Myofascial Pain Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and sometimes certain auto-immune conditions.  Many PTs are reluctant to see patients diagnosed with chronic pain because these conditions can be more challenging to treat, diagnose and ultimately heal.  Carrie has worked closely with chronic pain patients and their physicians for many years to help design effective and complimentary treatment programs.  She enjoys treating patients suffering from chronic pain conditions, especially in the aquatic setting, using a very dedicated, patient, and unique approach.  By utilizing a combination of exercise, stretching, manual therapies and guided relaxation, patients have observed some remarkable improvements in their conditions.
